CHARLOTTE, NC - Women's tennis coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods announced the signing of Kathy Robey of Lexington, Ky., to a national-letter of intent.

"We are extremely excited about Kathy's decision to become a 49er," Charlotte coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods said. "Kathy brings to our program not only a great amount of experience, but also a great deal of enthusiasm and desire which is only going to help us continue to climb up to the level where we want to be. She is a tremendous athlete and I am looking for her to continue to improve and reach her full potential during her years at Charlotte."

Robey has been ranked as high as fourth in singles and first in doubles in juniors in Kentucky and first in doubles in juniors. She has also been ranked as high as 80th nationally in the 2001 USTA national singles standings and 17th nationally in doubles. As a junior at Lexington Christian Academy, she helped lead her team to the state championship. She also was the 2001 Kentucky Qualifier Champion and was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at the 2002 Interscholastic East Championships.
