CHARLOTTE, NC - Women's Tennis Coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods, who is in her third season at Charlotte, was recently named to the ACC's 50-year Anniversary team in women's tennis. Zawacki-Woods was a two-time All-American player at Wake Forest in the early to mid 1990's.
"It is truly an honor to be part of the ACC Anniversary team," Zawacki-Woods said. "It is an honor to be named among so many other tremendous athletes. I am grateful to my family for the support and belief they have entrusted in me my entire life. I am also every thankful to Wake Forest University for providing me with a wonderful opportunity to obtain my education and compete and develop in a first class tennis program. I am extremely appreciative of everything I learned and gained from Wake Forest, and as a coach, I am thrilled to be able to add these experiences over to our women's tennis program here at Charlotte."
A 1996 psychology graduate of Wake Forest, Zawacki-Woods was the first tennis player in Wake Forest history to be named All-ACC in all four of her years. The Deacons #1 singles player all four years, Zawacki-Woods compiled a record of 119-49 and ranked as high as sixth in the nation among college players. She was the first Demon Deacon player to nationally ranked all four years. Wake Forest reached the ACC finals three times and she helped lead the team to three top 15 finishes in the nation.
