CHARLOTTE, NC - Conference USA awarded the Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team the sportsmanship award. Coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods and freshman Ashleigh Murray (Acworth, GA/Harrison HS) also were honored with C-USA sportsmanship awards.

The sportsmanship award signifies those student-athletes, coaches or teams that perform an individual act of sporting behavior or generally conduct themselves with a high degree of good sportsmanship.

The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team finished the recent Conference USA Tournament tied for ninth place. This is the best conference finish by the 49ers since the 1995 season. The 49ers finished the season by winning three of their final five matches.

Coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods completed her third season at Charlotte by leading the team to nine wins which is the most in her career at Charlotte. The 49ers also posted a 4-3 win over #55 Winthrop, April 6. This is the first time in the Zawacki-Woods era that the 49ers have defeated a nationally ranked foe.

Freshman Ashleigh Murray finished her freshman season with 17 wins which is the third highest total on the team. She won 12 dual matches at number three singles. She partnered with sophomore Laura Swain at number one doubles to lead the team with 17 doubles wins.
