Spivakovsky Named to All-Academic and First-Team All-Conference for Women's Tennis

Philadelphia, Pa. - Charlotte sophomore Ana Spivakovsky and junior transfer Yudeshnee Pillay were named to the First Team, while junior Koren Fleming was named to the Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis list. Spivakovsky was also added to the All-Academic Team.
Spivakovsky, the 2007 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, finished 14-12, including a 10-5 dual-match record. She was injured in the final weeks of the season, including tournament play, butting her number of singles matches down. She and Pillay were a doubles force, finishing 14-2 as a tandem, including a perfect 5-0 record in the spring semester, including a 2-0 record at number-one in A-10 Tournament matches.
Pillay led Charlotte with 18 singles wins, and an 11-6 record in the dual-match season. She was 3-1 at number-one, including 2-0 at the A-10 Championships and 8-5 at number two in the spring semester.
Fleming got nine wins in singles and doubles play this year, with wins in singles and doubles against Rhode Island at the A-10 Championships.
Temple junior Dina Senkina has been named the Atlantic 10 women's tennis Most Outstanding Performer in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches following the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.
In that same vote, Zena Williams of Duquesne was named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and Temple head coach Jill Breslin was tabbed as Coach of the Year. Dayton's Allysa Detroy was selected as the Student-Athlete of the Year in a separate vote of the Conference's sports information directors.
Joining Spivakovsky, Pillay, Senkina and Williams on the All-Conference first-team are Candynce Boney and Masha Pozar of Massachusetts; Richmond's Erin Clark and Pamela Duran; Kara Courtney of Xavier; Amanda Hellberg of Saint Louis; Temple's Lucie Pazderova and Elyse Steiner.

In addition to Fleming, the All-Conference second-team consists of Johanna Bezjak and Rebecca Poole of Duquesne; Temple's Christine Clermont and Anastasiia Rukaayshykova; Jill Ducro and Tifanie Treece of Xavier; George Washington's Nadia Demidenko; Hailee Elmore of Saint Louis; Dominique Liguori of Fordham; Rhode Island's Nyssa Peele; and Kelly Tidwell and Ashlee Vosters of Richmond.
Spivakovsky was added to the All-Academic Team for a cumulative 3.80 in Pre-Business in two years as a student-athlete at Charlotte.
Detroy earned Student-Athlete of the Year honors after finishing the season with a combined seventeen victories. The senior from Evansville, Ind., was named A-10 Player of the Week on Mar. 10. It marks the second straight season she has been named to the Academic All-Conference team.
She is joined on the Academic All-Conference team by Bezjak, Pozar and Spivakovsky, as well as Grace Hedstrom of Rhode Island, Lauren Kuhmerker of Saint Joseph's, and UD teammate Megan Gray.
