April 16, 2007

Charlotte, NC - Freshman Ana Spivakovsky (Beer-Sheva, Israel/Eroni Makif "Het") earned Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week honors for the second week in a row and the third time this season for her performance in the 49ers two home wins last week.

Spivakovsky posted a 2-0 record at number one singles and a 2-0 record at number one doubles last week. In the 49ers 5-2 win over UNC Greensboro, April 12, she recorded a 7-6, 6-0 singles win and an 8-3 doubles win. Then, she collected a 6-3, 6-0 singles win and an 8-2 doubles win in the 49ers 5-2 win over Georgia State, April 14.

She enters this weekend's Atlantic 10 Tournament with 22 singles wins, which is tied for the sixth highest total in school history and she is three wins short of the school record. She also has tallied 19 doubles wins this season.

Spivakovsky and the rest of the 49ers women's tennis team return to action at the Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend, April 20-22, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania.
