Pillay and Spivakovsky Advance in Doubles at ITA Southest Regional

Both Will Compete in Singles Action Friday at Wake Forest

Oct. 23, 2008

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Charlotte's most successful doubles pair last season, senior Yudeshnee Pillay and junior Ana Spivakovsky, defeated Lovera and Lazaro of USC Upstate 8-1 in the opening round today to advance to the round of 32 at the ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Tournament at Wake Forest's Indoor Complex.

The pair, which was a team-best 14-2 last season, will take on fifth-seeded pair Granson and Zsilinska of Duke in round two at 8:30 a.m.

Tomorrow afternoon, both Pillay and Spivakovsky will begin their play in the singles main draw. Pillay will take on top-ranked Sanaz Marand of North Carolina, while Spivakovsky will face Zsofia Zubor of Tennessee.

Pillay led Charlotte with an 18-11 singles record, while Spivakovsky, who set the team record with 26 wins in 2007, finished 14-12 a year ago.

The Tournament continues on to the Championship Round, which takes place on Monday.
