LOUISVILLE, KY - Three members of the Charlotte women's tennis team competed in the Louisville Invitational Tournament at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisvillethis weekend .

Freshman Jennifer Hatch competed in the Flight A singles. She defeated Catherine Hall of Tennessee-Chattanooga, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Then, she lost to Eleanor Shearman of Tennessee-Martin, in straight sets in the the second round.

Senior Lauren Hastings lost her first round Flight B singles match to Erica Echko of Marshall in straight sets. Then, she lost to Mariana Torres of Louisville in three hard fought sets in the Flight B consolation bracket. Hastings won the first set 6-4 then lost the next two sets, 7-6, 6-2.

Freshman Courtney Clifford lost her first round Flight C singles match to Melisa San Martin of Louisville in straight sets. She also lost her Flight C consolation match to Kendra Clark of Eastern Michigan in straight sets.

The doubles team of Hastings and Hatch lost their first round Flight A doubles match to Richards and Zimpfer of Marshall, 8-4. Then, they lost to Reyes and Corneillie of Cincinnati, 8-2, in the semifinals of the Flight A consolation bracket.

Then, Clifford teamed with Alise Cogger of Wisconsin in Flight B doubles. They reached the quarterfinals of Flight B doubles.

Members of the team return to action this week at the Southeast Regionals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
