Chapel Hill, N.C. - In their final fall tennis action, Charlotte 49ers Ana Spivakovsky and Yudeshnee Pillay took to the courts in Chapel Hill at the ITA Southeast Regional Indoor Championships.
Pillay was sent through the qualifying bracket and won a pair of matches to get to the main draw. She defeated Amanda Brown of Memphis and Jenn Tucci of Elon in straight sets to get through to the main draw. She was taken out by Sanaz Marand of North Carolina, who is ranked 39th in the country, in the round of 64.
Spivakovsky entered directly into the main draw and defeated Carol Salge of Clemson in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). She lost in the round of 32 to Ghizella Schutte of Tennessee after taking the first set (3-6, 6-4, 6-3).
The top doubles pair for the Niners, Spivakovsky and Pillay won their opening round doubles match, 8-3 over Ondeck and Wiseman of Memphis. They were toppled in the round of 32 by Plotkin and Zslinszka of Duke 8-3.
The 49ers will begin their spring dual match schedule with a contest at Furman on February 1, 2008.
