Tuscaloosa, Ala. - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team headed south to Alabama to compete in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic this past weekend.
On Friday, the doubles team of Ana Spivakovsky and Yudeshnee Pillay won both doubles matches in the white bracket 9-7 and 8-3 to advance to
In the gold bracket, the doubles pair of Koren Fleming and Michelle Alexander dropped a pair of matches, including a second one that went to a tiebreaker.
In the silver bracket, Kimber Redfern and Candace Cunningham split a pair of decisions in day one, winning against a Belmont pair 8-3, before losing to a Samford pair 8-2 in round two.
Yana Stoeva and Gabi Vergara took down a doubles pair from Belmont 8-4 in the opening round of double play in the bronze bracket.
Spivakovsky took out Whitney Chappelle of Auburn 6-2 and 6-3 in the white bracket of the singles side of the classic.
In singles action in the gold bracket, Pillay defeated Renee Joseph of Mississippi State 7-6 and 6-4.
In the Green bracket, Redfern defeated Valeriya Makarycheva of Mississippi State 6-3 and 6-1.
Gabi Vergara took out Rebecca Kirven of Samford 6-0, 6-2 in the pink bracket singles.

Candace Cunningham and Yana Stoeva were victorious in consolation bracket matches on the singles side on Saturday.
In doubles action Saturday, Charlotte won the white and bronze brackets and won matches by all doubles teams, with Spivakovski and Pillay taking the white bracket over de Villiers and Mararycheva of MSU 9-7 and Stoeva/Vergara defeating Reidenbach/Kirven of Samford 8-6 in the bronze bracket.
In the gold bracket, Fleming and Alexander took out the Iowa tandem of Berry and Klokenga 9-7. In the silver bracket, Redfern and Cunningham beat Nolen and Wettermark 8-4 of Alabama.
On the third and final day, Spivakovsky, Pillay, Fleming and Stoeva all won singles matches to close out the weekend.
The Niners will host a two-day tournament on October 12 and 13 before sending selected individuals to the ITA regionals in two and a half weeks in Chapel Hill to close out the fall schedule.
