Wilmington, NC - The Women's Tennis team opened their fall tournament schedule this weekend at the UNC Wilmington Invitational.

In their second day of competition, Alice Hansen reached the quarterfinals of Flight A before losing to Middle Tennessee State's Venter, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6. Then, she lost her backdraw singles match against Coastal Carolina's Kidd, 6-1, 7-5.

Freshman Jana Cucciniello won her Flight A singles match by default.

In Flight A doubles the team of Hansen and Cucciniello lost their doubles match to Coastal Carolina's Kidd and Matricka, 9-7.

In Flight B singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch lost her singles match to College of Charleston's Valkenhawk, 6-2, 6-1. She then defeated Lindsay Malony of Cincinnati, 6-3, 6-3 in the backdraw.

In Flight B singles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings defeated UNC Wilmington's Sulch, 6-4, 7-6. Then, she lost to Middle Tennessee State's Priest, 6-1, 6-2.

In Flight B doubles, Charlotte's Hastings and Hatch lost to College of Charleston's Hartung and McCorey, 8-0. Then, they also lost to UNC Wilmington's Gibbons and Sulch, 9-8.

In Flight C singles, Charlotte's Stacie Luders lost to Methodist's Balena, 6-3, 6-0. Then, she lost to Davidson's Megan Selnow, 6-1, 6-2.
