RALEIGH, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team is competing in the NC State Invitational this weekend. This marks Charlotte's first tournament in the 2002-03 season.

In Flight A singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain defeated Winthrop's Barreto, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Also, in Flight A singles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray defeated Western Carolina's Bechtold, 6-1, 6-2. In Flight A singles, Charlotte's Lindsay Morris lost to Charleston Southern's Chandrasekar, 7-5, 6-3.

In Flight B singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch lost to Hampton's Schulzova, 6-3, 6-2. In Flight B singles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark defeated Radford's Lindsey, 6-0, 6-0. In Flight B singles, Charlotte's Stacie Luders lost to Stetson's Worele, 6-2, 6-3.

In Flight C singles, Charlotte's Megan Bullins lost to Armstrong Atlantic's Aguilar, 6-1, 6-3. In Flight C singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford defeated Davidson's Meadors, 6-2, 6-3.

In Flight A doubles, Charlotte's Hatch and Murray defeated Hampton's Hauerlandova and Klimplova, 9-7/ Then, they lost to Armstrong Atlantic's Golopencza and Emmrich, 8-0. In Flight A doubles, Charlotte's Morris and Swain lost to Davidson's Fillnow and Fillnow, 8-3.

In Flight B Doubles, Charlotte's Clark and Clifford lost to NC State's Worsley and Jassawalla, 8-2. In Flight B Doubles, Charlotte's Bullins and Luders defeated Radford's Dickenson and Stevenson, 8-3. Then, they defeated UNC Wilmington's Hess and Kiser, 8-6, to advance to the semifinals.
