New Orleans, LA - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team blanked Saint Louis, 4-0, in the backdraw of the Conference USA Tournament.

The 49ers won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Saint Louis' Melisa Limus and Vicki Zielinski defeated Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray and Laura Swain, 8-6. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Lindsay Morris defeated Saint Louis' Melissa Cutler and Erin Kersten, 8-4. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark and Stacie Luders defeated Saint Louis' Amy O'Handley and Kristen Doyle, 8-6.

The 49ers won three singles matches to clinch the match. In number two singles, Charlotte's Murray defeated Saint Louis' Zielinski, 6-3, 6-1. In number three singles, Charlotte's Morris defeated Saint Louis' O'Handley, 6-3, 6-0. In number six singles, Charlotte's Megan Bullins defeated Rebecca Steer, 6-0, 6-1.

Swain, Clark and Hatch had their respective singles matches halted after the 49ers had already clinched the match. Swain was leading her number one singles match against Saint Louis' Limus, 6-3, 2-3. Clark was leading her number four singles match against Saint Louis' Cutler, 7-6, 2-0. Hatch was trailing Saint Louis' Kersten in their number five singles match, 0-6, 2-5.
