CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team posted a 5-2 home win over instate foe Gardner-Webb at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex, Saturday afternoon.

Charlotte won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Laura Swain defeated Gardner-Webb's Melissa DeJong and Molly Hoeffner, 9-8. In number two doubles, Gardner-Webb's Lisa Handzus and Lorielle Ferlita defeated Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Megan Bullins, 8-4. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark and Stacie Luders defeated Gardner-Webb's Elena Iltcheva and Brandy Borders, 8-5.

Charlotte won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Swain defeated Gardner-Webb's DeJong, 6-0, 6-0. In number two singles, Gardner-Webb's Handzus defeated Charlotte's Clark, 6-4, 6-3. In number three singles, Gardner-Webb's Borders defeated Charlotte's Hatch, 6-1, 6-4. In number four singles, Charlotte's Bullins defeated Gardner-Webb's Hoeffner, 6-0, 6-0. In number five singles, Charlotte's Clifford defeated Gardner-Webb's Ferlita, 6-3, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Luders defeated Gardner-Webb, Iltcheva, 6-1, 6-4.
