Women's Tennis Had Two-Match Winning Streak End At Winthrop

Ofra Friedman posted a straight sets win at number one singles

Rock Hill, SC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team had their two-match win streak halted at Winthrop, 6-1.

Winthrop swept the doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte's Ofra Friedman and Kathy Robey lost to Winthrop's Ana Simanaca and Jenny Andrade, 8-4. At number two doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Ali Piacente lost to Winthrop's Ana Paula Novaes and Paula Takahashi, 8-0. At number three doubles, Charlotte's Catherine Lynas and Ashleigh Murray lost to Winthrop's Danielle Moita and Larisa Bekmetova, 8-4.

Winthrop won five of the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte's Friedman defeated Winthrop's Andrade 6-1, 6-4. At number two singles, Charlotte's Robey lost to Winthrop's Novaes, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4. At number three singles, Charlotte's Murray lost to Winthrop's Moita, 6-2, 7-5. At number four singles, Charlotte's Piacente lost to Winthrop's Takahashi, 6-7, 6-4, 10-8. At number five singles, Charlotte's Hatch lost to Winthrop's Caceres, 6-2, 6-2. At number six singles, Charlotte's Lynas lost to Winthrop's Simanaca, 6-0, 6-1.

The 49ers return to action when they host Georgia State, Saturday, April 9 at 2 pm.
