DAVIDSON, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team dropped their second straight heartbreaking match, 4-3, to crosstown rival Davidson. The 49ers won three of the six singles matches.
Davidson won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray and Laura Swain lost to Davidson's Kelly Fillnow and Meghan Fillnow, 8-4. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Lindsay Morris lost to Davidson's Meggie Patterson and Lindsey Powel, 8-3. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Megan Bullins and Courtney Clifford lost to Davidson's Katherine Hatch and Sarah Borkowski, 8-2.
Charlotte won three singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Swain defeated Davidson's Kelly Fillnow, 7-5, 6-2. In number two singles, Charlotte's Morris defeated Davidson's Patterson, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. In number three singles, Charlotte's Murray lost to Davidson's Meghan Fillnow, 6-2, 6-2. In number four singles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark lost to Davidson's Powel, 7-5, 6-4. In number five singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch defeated Davidson's Katherine Hatch, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. In number six singles, Charlotte's Bullins lost to Davidson's Borkowski, 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.
