CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team defeated Georgia Souther, 4-3 at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex. Charlotte improved to 5-10 with the win.

Georgia Southern won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain defeated Georgia Southern's Amy Bartlett and Callie Ward, 9-8. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch lost to Georgia Southern's Charlotte Brunetaux and Brooke McNamee, 8-4. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings and Stacie Luders lost to Georgia Southern's Sally Williams and Sarah Iqbal, 8-4.

Charlotte won four of the six singles matches to win the match. In number one singles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen lost to Georgia Southern's Amy Bartlett, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. In number two singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain defeated Georgia Southern's Sarah Iqbal, 6-2, 6-3. In number three singles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello defeated Georgia Southern's Brooke McNamee, 6-3, 6-3. In number four singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch defeated Georgia Southern's Jennifer Hatch, 6-2, 6-0. In number five singles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings defeated Georgia Southern's Callie Ward, 6-3, 6-2. In number six singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford lost to Georgia Southern's Sally Williams, 6-3, 6-0.

 

 

Charlotte returns to action at Wofford, Thursday, March 28 at 3 pm.
