CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team dropped another heartbreaker, 4-3, to UNC Greensboro at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex. With the loss the 49ers fall to 6-9 on the season.
Charlotte swept the doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Laura Swain and Ashleigh Murray defeated UNC Greensboro's Kate LaCoste and Lindsey Peel, 8-3. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Lindsay Morris defeated UNC Greensboro's Carlin Kannan and Amanda Eutzler, 8-5. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Megan Bullins defeated UNC Greensboro's Sonnia Orellana and Lourdes Moran, 8-6.
UNC Greensboro won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Swain lost to UNC Greensboro's Kannan, 7-5, 6-3. In number two singles, Charlotte's Morris lost to UNC Greensboro's Peel, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. In number three singles, Charlotte's Murray defeated UNC Greensboro's Orellana, 6-0, 7-6. In number four singles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark lost to UNC Greensboro's LaCoste, 6-4, 6-0. In number five singles, Charlotte's Hatch defeated UNC Greensboro's Moran, 6-1, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Bullins lost to UNC Greensboro's Eutzler, 6-1, 6-3.
