ROCK HILL, SC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team lost to Winthrop, 6-1. The team will host Campbell, Saturday, March 16 at the Phillips Tennis Complex.

Winthrop won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain lost to Winthrop's Trunkos and Careres, 8-4. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Lauren Hastings lost to Winthrop's Simanca and Andrade, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Stacie Luders lost to Winthrop's Deason and Barreto, 8-0.

Winthrop won five of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen lost to Winthrop's Trunkos, 6-3,6-1. In number two singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain continued her strong play by defeating Winthrop's Simanca, 6-1, 7-6. In number three singles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello lost to Winthrop's Barreto, 7-6, 6-3. In number four singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch lost to Winthrop's Andrade, 6-3, 6-2. In number five singles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings lost to Winthrop's Caceres, 6-1, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford lost to Winthrop's Lucki, 6-1, 6-1.
