HOUSTON, TX - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team lost at Conference USA foe Houston, 5-2. With the loss the 49ers split their two matches during their spring break Texas trip.

Houston won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray and Laura Swain defeated Houston's Miranda Foley and Yolandi Terblanche, 9-8. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark and Lindsay Morris lost to Houston's Analia Longoni and Rueda Bravo, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Jennifer Hatch lost to Houston's Karine Urbin and Sarah Flood, 8-2.

Houston won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Swain lost to Houston's Longoni, 7-5, 6-1. In number two singles, Charlotte's Morris lost to Houston's Foley, 6-2, 6-2. In number three singles, Charlotte's Murray defeated Houston's Urbin, 6-1, 6-0. In number four singles, Charlotte's Clark was leading Houston's Terblanche, 7-5, 0-3, before Terblanche retired. In number five singles, Charlotte's Hatch lost to Houston's Kami Miller, 6-7, 7-6, 10-4. In number six singles, Charlotte's Megan Bullins lost to Houston's Flood, 6-3, 6-2.
