DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team defeated Valparaiso, 5-2, in the final match of their Florida spring break trip. The team returns to action at Winthrop, Thursday, March 14.

Charlotte won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain lost to Valparaiso's Kollarova and Sonkin, 8-2. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch defeated Valparaiso's Danko and Scala, 8-5. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings and Stacie Luders defeated Valparaiso's Arakaki and Engelbert, 8-4.

Charlotte won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen lost to Valparaiso's Kollarova, 5-7, 6-3, 10-3. In number two singles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello defeated Valparaiso's Sonkin, 6-0, 6-4. In number three singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch defeated Valparaiso's Danko, 6-0, 6-2. In number four singles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings lost to Valparaiso's Scala, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. In number five singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford lost to Valparaiso's Arakaki, 6-1, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Stacie Luders defated Valparaiso's Engelbert, 6-1, 6-0.
