CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis dropped their second hard breaking match in a row with a 4-3 loss to West Virginia at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex. With the loss, Charlotte falls to 3-5 on the season.

West Virginia won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Laura Swain and Ashleigh Murray defeated West Virginia's Melissa Day and Raynie Theis, 8-2. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark and Lindsay Morris lost to West Virginia's Anna Underwood and Jennifer Watkins, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Jennifer Hatch lost to West Virginia's Courtney Howell and Catherine Koontz, 8-3.

The two teams split the singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain defeated West Virginia's Melissa Day, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. In number two singles, Charlotte's Lindsay Morris defeated West Virginia's Courtney Howell, 6-4, 6-1. In number three singles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray defeated West Virginia's Anna Underwood, 6-2, 6-3. In number four singles, Charlotte's Marilyn Clark lost to West Virginia's Jennifer Watkins, 6-0, 6-4. In number five singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch lost to West Virginia's Catherine Koontz, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. In number six singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford lost to West Virginia's Raynie Theis, 7-6, 7-5.
