CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team lost to Conference USA rival East Carolina, 5-2.
East Carolina won two of the doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain defeated East Carolina's Emily Kohl and Meredith Spears, 8-2. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch lost to East Carolina's Lyndall Jordan and Paulina Sierpinski, 8-6. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Lauren Hastings lost to East Carolina's Raluca Baicu and Cristina Meilicke, 8-2.
East Carolina won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen lost to East Carolina's Raluca Baicu, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5. In number two singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain defeated East Carolina's Emily Kohl, 7-5, 6-2. In number three singles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello lost to East Carolina's Lyndall Jordan, 7-5, 6-2. In number four singles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch defeated East Carolina's Meredith Spears, 7-6, 7-6. In number five singles, Charlotte's Lauren Hastings lost to East Carolina's Paulina Sierpinski, 6-4, 6-4. In number six singles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford lost to East Carolina's Cristina Meilicke, 6-2, 6-1.
Charlotte returns to action at Clemson, Saturday, March 2 at 2 pm.
