BIRMINGHAM, AL - The women's tennis lost a hard fought match, 5-2, at Conference USA rival UAB. The 49ers are 3-4 on the season. They will host Conference USA rival East Carolina, Thursday, February 28 at 2 pm.

UAB won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain lost to UAB's Schmid and deBoer, 8-1. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch lost to UAB's Immele and Liem, 8-3. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Lauren Hastings lost to UAB's Ernst and Dellarciprete, 9-8.

In singles action, Charlotte won two matches while losing a third match in three sets. In number one singles, Charlotte's Hansen lost to UAB's Monika Schmid, 6-0, 6-4. In number two singles, Charlotte's Swain defeated UAB's Natascha Immele, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6. In number three singles, Charlotte's Cucciniello defeated UAB's Liem, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6. In number four singles, Charlotte's Hatch lost to UAB's deBoer, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6. In number five singles, Charlotte's Hastings lost to UAB's Ernst, 6-3, 6-3. In number six singles, Charlotte's Clifford lost to UAB's Dellarciprete, 6-1, 6-0.
