RALEIGH, NC - The women's tennis team battled NC State in a hard fought match before falling 4-3. Charlotte was attempting to post their first ever win over NC State. The improvement in Charlotte's team this season is never more apparent than in the score of this match since Charlotte lost to NC State, 7-0, last season.

NC State claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Laura Swain defeated NC State's Katrina Gildemeister and Kristen Nicholls, 8-6. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Jana Cucciniello lost to NC State's Jennifer Jassawalla and Myrna Bawono, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Lauren Hastings lost to NC State's Loni Worsley and Landis Strader, 8-2.

Charlotte won three of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Hansen defeated NC State's Gildemeister, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. In number two singles, Charlotte's Swain defeated NC State's Nicholls, 7-6, 6-4. In number three singles, Charlotte's Cucciniello defeated NC State's Worsley, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. In number four singles, Charlotte's Hatch lost to NC State's Bawono, 6-1, 6-2. In number five singles, Charlotte's Hastings lost to NC State's Jassawall, 6-0, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Clifford lost to NC State's Strader, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
