CHARLOTTE, NC - The Women's Tennis defeats North Carolina A & T, 7-0, and Appalachian State, 5-2, in a home opening doubleheader. Charlotte improved to 2-1 on the season with the wins.

In the North Carolina A & T match, Charlotte won all three doubles matches. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch defeated North Carolina A & T's Johnson and Madyon, 8-1. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Alice Hansen and Stacie Luders defeated North Carolina A & T's Platt and Alston, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Courtney Clifford and Lauren Hastings defeated North Carolina A & T's Cormon and Cooper, 8-0.

Charlotte claimed all six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Hansen defeated North Carolina A & T's Johnson, 6-4, 6-2. In number two singles, Charlotte's Cucciniello defeated North Carolina A & T's Platt, 6-0, 6-0. In number three singles, Charlotte's Hatch defeated North Carolina A & T's Madyon, 6-0, 6-0. In number four singles, Charlotte's Hastings defeated North Carolina A & T's Alston, 6-0, 6-1. In number five singles, Charlotte's Clifford defeated Cormone, 6-1, 6-0. In number six singles, Charlotte's Luders defeated North Carolina A & T's Cooper, 6-0, 6-1.

In the afternoon match, Charlotte defeated Appalachian State, 5-2. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Hansen and Laura Swain defeated Appalachian State's Tammy Beaulieu and Jennifer Fayad 9-7. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Cucciniello and Hatch defeated Appalachian State's Katarzyna Finkowska and Elena Berger, 8-2. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Clifford and Hastings defeated Appalachian State's Melissa Bergette and Donna Altenberger, 8-3.

Charlotte won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Hansen lost to Appalachian State's Beaulieu, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. In number two singles, Charlotte's Cucciniello lost to Appalachian State's Berger, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. In number three singles, Charlotte's Swain defeated Appalachian State's Finkowska, 6-4, 6-2. In number four singles, Charlotte's Hatch defeated Appalachian State's Fayad, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. In number five singles, Charlotte's Hastings defeated Appalachian State's Altenberger, 6-1, 6-2. In number six singles, Charlotte's Clifford defeated Burgette, 7-6, 7-5.
