CHAPEL HILL, NC - The women's tennis team dropped their second straight road match of the season when they lost, 6-1, to C-USA foe Marquette at the University of North Carolina.
In number one singles, Charlotte's Laura Swain lost to Marquette's Veronica Briseno, 6-4, 5-7, 10-4. In number two singles, Charlotte's Ofra Friedman lost to Marquette's Genevieve Charron, 6-2, 6-4. In number three singles, Charlotte's Lindsay Morris lost to Marquette's Callen Smith, 6-4, 7-5. In number four singles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray defeated Marquette's Dominika Dabrowski, 6-2, 6-0. In number five singles, Charlotte's Kathy Robey lost to Marquette's Francina Bonnelly, 6-2, 4-6, 10-3. In number six singles, Charlotte's Ali Piacente lost to Marquette's Annabelle Espinosa, 6-2, 6-2.
In number one doubles, Charlotte's Swain and Murray lost to Marquette's Charron and Briseno, 8-5. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Friedman and Robey defeated Marquette's Smith and Dabrowski, 8-4. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Jennifer Hatch and Marilyn Clark lost to Marquette's Bonnelly and Espinosa, 8-4.
The 49ers return to action Wednesday, February 4 at C-USA rival East Carolina.
