Caroline Bentley is in her first season as assistant coach with the 49ers after a stellar four-year playing career at Southern Conference power Furman.

"It's has been amazing having Caroline join our program," Coach Michaela Quinn said. "She has really helped the team out a lot. It is great having another set of eyes and ears at practices and matches. She has a lot of experience at singles and doubles after having a great playing career at Furman."

She was a four-year letterwinner who helped Furman capture four Southern Conference regular season titles and three Southern Conference tournament titles from 2002-05. She finished her career as the Paladins all-time leader in career victories with 140 during her four-year career. She was Southern Conference Tournament MVP as well as team MVP in 2004 and 2005. She earned all-conference honors in singles and doubles in each of her four seasons.

The Huntsville, Alabama native graduated from Furman with a bachelor's degree in communications in 2005. She not only excelled on the court but in the classroom as well as she was named to the Southern Conference academic honor roll.

After graduating from Furman, she taught tennis at the Seaside Swim and Tennis Club in Seaside, Florida. She also spent eight months living and traveling around Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.

Bentley has four younger sisters and while attending Huntsville High School she won the state 6A doubles championship with her sister, Jenn.
