CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers head softball coach Aimee DeVos announced today that Melanie Thevenote has been named the team's most valuable player for the 2003 season.
Thevenote, a senior from Houston, Texas, led the 49ers with 36 hits and 19 runs scored this season. She was second on the team with five home runs and a .281 batting average. Her 21 RBI ranked third.
Thevenote joined the Charlotte program last season after playing two years at Drake. In her two seasons with the Niners, she hit nine home runs, tied for fourth on the career list. She is ninth on the career doubles list with 19. Her .303 batting average ranks 10th.
