CHICAGO - The Charlotte 49ers softball team's Stephanie Dunlap has been Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week it was announced today by the league office. Dunlap, a senior first baseman, helped the 49ers go 5-2 last week and finish as the runner-up at the 49ers Invitational. She shared the honor with Louisville's Melissa Jacobo.
Dunlap hit .600 last week, going 12-for-20 at the plate. Four of those hits were home runs and she also had three doubles. She scored seven runs and had nine RBI. During the 49ers Invitational, she went 7-for 12 with three home runs to earn Hitter of the Tournament honors.
Dunlap's selection marks the second time a 49ers player has been recognized by the league this season. Leah Heston was named Hitter of the Week Feb. 18 for her performance at the Triangle Classic.
Charlotte (12-8) returns to action Thursday, when they host Campbell in a doubleheader, which is being made up after it was postponed Feb. 27. The first game begins at 2:00. All home games are played on campus at the Phillips Sports Complex. Admission is free.
