CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Using a ninth-inning Keola Calderon run, Louisville picked up an 11-10 win over the Charlotte 49ers softball team Saturday afternoon at the Phillips Sports Complex. Game two of the doubleheader was suspended in the top of the fourth with the Cardinals out front, 6-3, due to weather. The teams will resume play Sunday at 12:00 before playing the third game of the series.

Louisville (26-12, 3-1 C-USA) started things with three runs in the top of the first. Charlotte (12-12, 0-4 C-USA) answered in the bottom half, plating five runs to take a 5-3 lead. Nora Petrie accounted for two of those runs with a single, scoring Leah Heston and Stephanie Dunlap. The Cardinals retook the lead with three more runs in the second. Candi Padilla's double capped the rally, scoring Calderon and Coughlin. The Cards added to their lead with a run in the third and two in the fourth. The 49ers countered with two of their own in the bottom of the fourth then retook the lead with three runs in the fifth. In the fifth, Dunlap's single to center scored Petrie, while Kristin White's single scored Liz Burris and Vikki Van Dam. Louisville tied things up in the top of the sixth, forcing extra innings after Charlotte was held scoreless in the seventh. Nearly three hours after the game started, Calderon won the game for the Cards, scoring on an error in the ninth.
