CHARLOTTE, N.C. - DePaul's Lindsay Chouinard held the Charlotte 49ers softball team to three hits on the way to a 4-0 shut out Tuesday afternoon at the Phillips Sports Complex. Game two of the doubleheader was stopped in the fourth due to rain. The Blue Demons led 5-0.

DePaul (15-6, 3-1 C-USA), ranked 16th in the country, got on the board in the first, scoring one run on a Shavaughne Desecki single that scored Liz Bouck. They went on to add runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings. Charlotte (15-15, 1-5 C-USA) tried to mount a rally in the seventh, when Melanie Thevenote doubled down the left field line, but was stranded to end the game. Chouinard earned the win, striking out 12 with no walks, and improved to 7-2 for the year. Betsy Thompson suffered the loss and fell to 8-5.

The second game will resume tomorrow at 1:00. The teams will then play the series finale. All home game are held at the Phillips Sports Complex. Admission is free.
