GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers softball team lost in their series finale at East Carolina, 10-3, Sunday afternoon at the ECU Softball Field. The 49ers took the first games of the series on Saturday.
East Carolina (15-10, 1-5 C-USA) got on the board with two runs in the first inning. Charlotte (11-10, 2-1 C-USA) answered with one run in the second, but the Pirates struck back with two more in the bottom half of the inning. ECU went on to go up 8-1 before the 49ers plated two in the sixth. Sheridan led the Pirates, going 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBI. Denise Atmar accounted for a pair of runs, going 1-for-1 with one run scored. Boyd scattered seven hits over seven innings to pick up the win and improve to 5-2. Amy Morse took the loss, dropping to 4-5.
Charlotte returns to action Wednesday, when they begin a three-game series with Louisville. This weekend, the 49ers host a three-game series with Saint Louis.
