CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Tulsa scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Charlotte softball team, 3-2, and win the 49ers Invitational Sunday at the Phillips Sports Complex. It was the second game of the day between the two with the Golden Hurricane winning the first game, 2-0.

Stephanie Dunlap was named Hitter of the Tournament for Charlotte (12-8). She hit for a .583 average this weekend, going 7-for-12. She hit three home runs, including one in the championship, two doubles and drove in seven runs.

Ami Day was named Pitcher of the Tournament for Tulsa (19-2). She finished the weekend 2-0 with a 1.50 earned run average. She struck out 10 and allowed only one walk in 14 innings of work.

The 49ers got on the board first in the championship, when Denise Atmar drove in Kiley Scott in the second. Charlotte picked up their second run in the third, when Dunlap led off the inning with a solo blast to right field. The Niners held Tulsa scoreless until the seventh, where they won the game. Ashlea Montgomery scored the first run when she was driven in by Jessie Smith's single to right. Danielle Olsen accounted for the other two runs one batter later, driving in Lindsey Dyer and Smith. Jenny Magill earned the win and improved to 6-2. Betsy Thompson took the loss, falling to 6-3.

In the first game, both teams held the other scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Crissy Strimple scored the Golden Hurricane's first run on a Day double. They added their second run in the next inning as Olsen drove in Stacey Walkingstick. Day earned the win to up her record to 8-0. Amy Morse fell to 4-3 with the loss.

Charlotte returns to action Thursday, March 14 when they host Campbell in a doubleheader. The games are being made up after they were postponed Feb. 27. Game one begins at 2:00.
