Stephanie Dunlap followed with a double to right center to drive in LaPorte. Betsy Thompson picked up the win and improved to 4-2 on the season.
In the nightcap, Liberty jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Amanda Maska singled to lead off the inning and scored a few batters later on a bases loaded walk to Lauren Hahn. After a second Flames run, the 49ers got on the board in the top of the second to tie the game at 2-2, but the Liberty answered in their half of the inning, scoring three runs to give Liberty a 5-2 lead. Charlotte and Liberty exchanged runs in the third, to give the Flames a 6-3 lead. However, in the top of the fifth, the 49ers scored four runs to take a 7-6 lead, and added another in the seventh to finish off the doubleheader sweep with a 8-6 victory.
