CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers softball team won both games today (4-3; 9-1) against the Elon Phoenix (4-5) improving their record to 6-4.
Winning pitcher, sophomore Shannon Carson, struck-out four at the plate in the first game against the Phoenix, while junior Denise Atmar had two hits and scored a run for the 49ers. The Niners secured the game in the sixth inning after Atmar was sent home by sophomore third-baseman Lindsay Flemming.
In the second game against Elon, the 49ers held their own scoring six runs by the second inning. Senior Kristy Constantino led the 49ers with three runs and two hits. Scoring one run in the fifth inning, Elon's Dani Concepcion scored by Gretchen Boob's double. But the 49ers ended the game the same inning, scoring three more runs to make the final score a 9-1 victory.
The 49ers will play another doubleheader against the Appalachian State Mountaineers tomorrow with games starting at 2:00.
