CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina defeated the Charlotte 49ers softball team, 3-0, in what turned out to be the only game of the scheduled doubleheader. The second game was called due to weather with the 49ers in front, 6-4, in the bottom of the third inning.

In the opener, Coastal Carolina (7-1) got on the scoreboard in the second, manufacturing a run to go up 1-0. Brittany Nelson walked to open the Chants' inning. Sarah Allain came in to pinch run, stole second and then advanced to third on a ground out. Katey Allen then singled Allain home with the eventual game-winner. CCU later added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Melanie Thevenote and Kristy Constantino each had a hit for Charlotte (4-4) in the game. Christine Doyle picked up the win, improving to 4-0 for the season. Amy Morse took the loss and fell to 2-2.

The Niners return to action Tuesday, when they host Elon in a doubleheader at 2:00.
