Charlotte, N.C. – Four Charlotte 49ers women’s soccer players were among the 11 student-athletes selected to this year’s North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State team.
Charlotte’s four selections head up the list that is selected annually by the sports information professionals at North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions as a means of promoting the various athletics teams within the Tarheel State.
The NCCSIA selects All-State teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. More than 650 student-athletes have been recognized on the All-State teams since 2003.
Junior Hailey Beam, and sophomores Whitney Bryant, Sam Huecker and Whitney Weinraub were each awarded with All-State honors for the first time in their careers, following a record setting season for the Niners, which saw the team win the Atlantic 10 and then defeat perennial SEC power Tennessee in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
Beam tops the list for Charlotte following an All-American season in which the Cornelius, N.C. native led the A-10 with her 17 goals, 13 assists and 47 points.
While garnering NSCAA All-American honors and a NSCAA Southeast Region selection, Beam was also named the A-10’s Midfielder of the Year as well as being the A-10 Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player for the second straight year.

A native of Marietta, Ga., Bryant also scored a goal while assisting on six other 49er tallies en route to being named to the first-team All-Atlantic 10 squad.
Huecker was named to the All-State squad following a six goal season that helped to earn her second-team All-Atlantic 10 honors. The Crestwood, Ky., native also tallied five goals in Charlotte’s victory over Xavier. Those five assists were the most tallied by a player in a single game in all of Division I women’s soccer during the ’08 season.
Following a sensational sophomore campaign where she tallied 12 goals while dishing out 10 assists, Weinraub was named to the All-State squad after earning A-10 Offensive Player of the Year honors and NSCAA All-Southeast region honors.
Weinraub also picked up first-team All-Atlantic 10 hardware while being named to the A-10 All-Tournament team.
Charlotte wrapped up the season with an 18-4-1 mark, while setting records for the most goals tallied in a season and the most wins in 49er history.
