Soccer's Lindsey Beam Named Third-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America

Beam becomes the tenth Charlotte 49ers student-athlete to be named Academic All-America

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer player Lindsey Beam (Charlotte, NC/Riverside HS) was named third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is the tenth Charlotte 49ers student -athlete to be named Academic All-American.

The sophomore midfielder earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors. She also was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team. Beam also earned A-10 Player of the Week and Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week honors twice. She was named MVP of the Carolina's Cup at Clemson University earlier this season. She led the Atlantic 10 and ranked second in the nation with a school single-season record 19 assists this season. She also tied her career-high with five goals as well.

Beam earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III honors. She was also named to the Atlantic 10 academic all-conference team. Beam has a 4.00 GPA in pre-special education.

Beam is the second Charlotte women's soccer player to be named Academic All-American. Beam joins former 49ers Craig Brown (men's soccer, 1986), Chris Mark (men's tennis, 1992-93), Jim Kunevicius (men's soccer, 1997-98), Tiffany Howard (softball, 1998), Karin Levin (track and field, 2001), Jobey Thomas (men's basketball, 2002), Ola Jonsson (men's tennis, 2002), Lindsey Duncan (women's soccer, 2003) and Sharonda Johnson (track and field, 2004).
