All-Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Team Get Acrobat Reader

Charlotte, NC - Seven members of the nationally-ranked three-time Atlantic 10 championship Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team have earned All-Atlantic 10 honors. Junior Hailey Beam was named A-10 Midfielder and Student-Athlete of the Year. Sophomore Whitney Weinraub was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Year. Weinraub, Beam and sophomore Whitney Bryant earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors. Sophomores Sam Huecker and Megan Minnix and freshman Oni Bernard earned second-team All-Atlantic 10 honors. Bernard and fellow freshman Jonna Handra were named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. Senior Nikki Labuda Czaplicki joined Beam and Minnix on the A-10 Academic All-Conference team.

"I am very proud of the players that have earned All-Atlantic 10 honors," Charlotte coach Jon Lipsitz said. "I always tell the team that individual honors will come from team success. These seven players being recognized by the Atlantic 10 coaches is a sign of the success that our team has had this season."

Beam, who's older sister Lindsey Ozimek earned A-10 Midfielder and Student-Athlete of the Year honors last season, leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks among the nation's leaders with 15 goals, 13 assists and 43 points. She scored three goals with two assists at St. Bonaventure and two goals with two assists against Saint Joseph's. Against Richmond, she recorded her third multiple goals game of the season with two goals. Beam was named A-10 Player of the Week three times and she was named to a National Team of the Week three times this year as well. Last season, she was named A-10 Tournament MVP after helping the 49ers claim their first-ever A-10 Tournament title.

Beam, who earned her first-ever Student-Athlete of the Year award, has a 3.87 GPA in Finance. Recently, she earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors.

Weinraub is the fifth different 49er to earn league Offensive Player of the Year honors. Weinraub finished the regular-season second in the A-10 with 12 goals and 33 points. She ranks among the nation's leaders in points. Weinraub's 12 goals is the fourth highest single-season total in school history. Against Tennessee Tech, she recorded her first career three-goals game and she scored two goals against La Salle. She was named A-10 Player of the Week twice and to Soccer Buzz's National Team of the Week once.

Bryant, who earned Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American honors last season, leads a 49ers defense that has tallied 10 shutouts and limited 13 foes to a goal or less this season. She scored a goal in the 49ers victory over Saint Joseph's and she has recorded six assists this season as well. Last season, Bryant earned second-team All-Atlantic 10 and A-10 All-Rookie team honors.

With Beam, Bryant and Weinraub being named first-team All-Atlantic 10, this is the most 49ers to earn first-team All-League honors since Courtney Crandell, Mikel Casey and Kim Moore were named first-team All-Conference USA in 2002.

Bernard, who earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice, finished tied for third on the team with seven goals. She added seven assists to record 21 points, which is the fourth highest total on the team. She scored game-winning goals against Francis Marion, La Salle and Saint Joseph's. In the Francis Marion game, she scored two goals.

Huecker, who was a Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American last season, is second in the Atlantic 10 with 11 assists. She recorded a school-record five assists in the 49ers victory over Xavier, which is the highest single-game total in all of Division I Women's Soccer this season. She has also scored six goals giving her 23 points.

Minnix is a leader of a 49ers defense that has tallied 10 shutouts and limited 13 foes to a goal or less this year. Over the past two seasons, she has been a starter on a 49ers defense that has recorded 21 shutouts and limited 31 foes to a goal or less. This season, she assisted on 49ers goals against La Salle and Richmond.

Minnix has a 4.0 GPA in Business.

Handra and Bernard are the fifth and sixth different 49er to earn Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team honors. Handra is tied with Bernard for third on the team with seven goals. She has also recorded five assists for 19 points. Handra was named A-10 Rookie of the Week three times and she joined Huecker as the only 49er to earn A-10 Player and Rookie of the Week honors in the same week. She was named to Soccer Buzz National Team of the Week once this season as well.

Joining Beam and Minnix on the A-10 Academic All-Conference team is Czaplicki, who was a 2006 ESPN The Magazine second-team Academic All-American. Czaplicki, who is a three-time first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, graduated last May with a 3.95 GPA in Economics and Math. She is currently working on a Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance.

Czaplicki not only excels in the classroom but on the field as well as she is a two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection. This season, she is tied for fourth on the team with six goals. She currently has scored 26 career goals which is the sixth highest total in the program's history.

Beam, Bernard, Bryant, Czaplicki, Handra, Huecker, Minnix and Weinraub and the rest of the 49ers nationally-ranked women's soccer team are the top seed in this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament which will be played at Saint Louis University's Robert R. Herman Stadium, November 6-9. The 49ers, who have earned a first-round bye, begin their quest for the second straight A-10 Championship by facing the lowest remaining seed, Friday, November 7.
