CHARLOTTE - Junior midfielder/forward Jennie Leeder (Spring, Texas/Klein) has been recognized by online soccer magazine SoccerBuzz, as a member of its National Elite Team of the Week, from Sept. 24-30. Leeder, a tri-captain, returned from a broken nose to lead the 49ers to back-to-back conference victories at Southern Miss on Friday and at South Florida on Sunday.

In the match versus Southern Miss, Leeder scored the lone goal to give Charlotte the 1-0 victory. She continued her efforts on Sunday, as the Niners defeated South Florida, 3-0, behind her decisive first goal, twenty minutes into the first half. For her efforts, she was named co-offensive player of the week by Conference USA.

Leeder joins teammates Jenn Howell (Soccer America National Team of the Week, Sept. 10-16) and Mikel Casey (Soccer America National Team of the Week, Sept. 17-23) as 49ers who have earned National Team of the Week honors, this year.

Currently, Leeder is second on the team with eight points, one behind the team leader. Her three goals this season tie her for the team lead. Her three goals also match a season-high that she set last season.

The 49ers have won four straight conference matches and six overall to improve their record to 6-2-1, 4-0-0. Charlotte is tied for first-place in C-USA with nationally-ranked Marquette and Cincinnati. The 49ers will next play tomorrow evening, October 4, at home versus regional opponent Furman at 7:00 p.m.
