Beam Named To Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week

This is the second time in Beam's career that she has been named to Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week

Sept. 30, 2008

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer junior midfielder Hailey Beam was named to Soccer Buzz's National Elite Team of the Week after her performance last week against La Salle and St. Bonaventure. She is the second 49er to earn Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week honors this season after Whitney Weinraub was named to the team, September 10. Last season, Beam was named to Soccer Buzz's National Elite Team of the Week after being named MVP of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

This week, Beam also earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Beam, who earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors in 2006, earned her first-ever A-10 Player of the Week award after scoring four goals with four assists helping the 49ers began A-10 play with two victories. She scored a goal and added two assists as the 49ers began defense of their back-to-back A-10 titles with a 6-0 win over La Salle in their A-10 opener, Friday. Then, she collected the team's second hat trick of the season and the tenth in the program's history in the 49ers 8-2 road win at St. Bonaventure, Sunday. She added two assists to go along with her three goals in the St. Bonaventure game.

Beam is currently tied with Weinraub for the A-10 lead in goals with eight. Beam is second behind Weinraub for the A-10 lead in points with 22. She is also second behind Weinraub for the A-10 lead in assists with six.

Beam, Weinraub and the rest of the 49ers women's soccer team returns to action when they host A-10 foe Saint Louis at Transamerica Field, Saturday, October 4 at 7 pm.
