CHARLOTTE - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer junior goalkeeper Jenn Howell (Marietta, Ga./McEachern) has been named to the Soccer America National Team of the Week, for the week of Sept. 10-16. Her honor follows a one match performance during the week, which included a 1-0 shutout over in-state rival UNC Greensboro. In the match, Howell tied a season-high with nine saves, including a diving stop as time expired in regulation, to preserve the victory for Charlotte.
Howell, a second-team all-Conference USA performer last season, has played a key role in the 49ers' current two-game winning streak to even their record to 2-2-1. In the five games this season, she has made 31 saves with a 1.55 goals against average.
She currently stands second all-time in Charlotte history with nine career shutouts and 183 saves during her three-year career. She is the third player in school history to be named to the Soccer America Team of the Week, following Stacy Weaver in 1998 and Heather Bridgewater in 1995.
