Lindsey Beam Named To Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers sophomore midfielder Lindsey Beam was named to Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week for her efforts in the 49ers' victories over Furman and South Carolina this past weekend. Beam is the fourth 49er player to claim this honor in the program's history. She is the first since Jenn Howell, October 22, 2002, to make the team.
Beam also garnered Atlantic 10 Conference player of the week honors as a result of her performance last weekend.
Beam, who was a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, was named the tournament most valuable player in the Carolina's Cup this past weekend as she led the 49ers to the tournament title. She scored both of Charlotte's goals in their 2-1 double overtime victory over Furman, Friday, September 9. Her two-goal performance was her first multiple goal game of the season and the second of her career. Then, she assisted on the game-tying goal in Charlotte's 2-1 win over South Carolina, Sunday, September 10.
Beam currently leads the team in assists with four. She is also tied for second on the team in goals with two.
Beam and the rest of the 49ers women's soccer team battle SEC foes Ole Miss and Mississippi State on the road this weekend, September 16-18.
