Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer coach Jon Lipsitz announced the hiring of Allison Graham and Lisa Grubb as assistant coaches today. These two join third-year assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Sari Rose on the 49ers women's soccer coaching staff.
"Adding Allison and Lisa to the coaching staff is a key step in taking this program to the next level," Lipsitz said. "Both of them had tremendous playing careers, winning numerous honors along the way while leading their respective teams to the NCAA Tournament. They will certainly be great role models for our players here at Charlotte."
Graham joins the 49ers coaching staff after a highly successful playing career at Clemson and on the United States national team. She was a member of the U-19 and U-21 U.S. national teams. She also played an integral role in helping Clemson reach the NCAA Tournament in each of her four seasons. In 2002, she was named to the first-team All-ACC freshmen team as well as second-team Soccer Buzz Freshmen All-American. She earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2003 and 2004 and she was a second-team All-ACC selection in 2005.
The Fayetteville, Georgia native was a three-time Parade All-American in high school. As a senior in high school, she was named Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year.
Not only did she excel on the field but in the classroom as well. She was a two-time NSCAA Scholar All-American and a four-year member of the ACC Honor Roll. In December, 2006, she graduated from Clemson with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourist Management from Clemson.
Grubb, who was a two-time team captain for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Lipsitz, a former assistant coach at Ohio State, joined the Buckeyes program at the same time in 2001. Grubb earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 2001. She was a three-time All-Big Ten selection. She finished her career as Ohio State's all-time leader in goals, points and assists. She played professionally for the 2005 W-League Champion New Jersey Wildcats and the 2002 W-League Runner-Ups the Chicago Cobras.

Graham and Grubb join a 49ers women's soccer program that won 13 games and captured the Atlantic 10 regular season championship last season. The 49ers welcome back sixteen letterwinners and nine starters from last season's A-10 championship team. Those 16 letterwinners along with a nationally-ranked recruiting class that consists of 14 talented newcomers will take the field for the first time when the 49ers host The Citadel, Friday, August 31 at Transamerica Field
