Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer senior midfielders Lindsey Ozimek and Ashley Rex earned NSCAA Scholar honors. Ozimek, who is a three-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, was named to the second-team NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-American team. Ozimek also earned first-team NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-South region honors. While Rex was named to the honorable-mention Scholar All-South region team.
This past season, Ozimek and Rex helped the 49ers tie the school-record with 16 wins en route to the A-10 regular season and tournament titles and the third NCAA Tournament berth in the program's history.
Ozimek, who has a 4.00 GPA in Special Education, was named to the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American women's soccer team, selected by CoSIDA. Ozimek has been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in each of the last three seasons and has earned first-team honors the past two years.
This season, Ozimek, a finalist for the Lowe's Senior Class Award, was named first-team Lowe's Senior Class First-Team All-American. She scored the final goal in her career against Clemson in the NCAA Tournament which moved her into a tie for the team lead in goals with six. She became the first recipient of the A-10 Midfielder of the Year award this season after leading the A-10 with 13 assists. This past season, she became the program's all-time leader in career assists and she finished her career with a 43 assists.
Ozimek, who was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 and Atlantic 10 All-Tournament selection, played an integral role in helping the 49ers win 45 games and capture two A-10 regular-season titles and the 2007 A-10 Tournament title during her stellar four-year career.
Rex, who has a 3.8 GPA in the Public Administration Master's program, overcame two season-ending knee injuries to became a three-time team captain. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art in May, 2006.

She finished her career with 79 games played with 59 starts, two goals, and five assists. This past season, she saw action in all 22 games and scored a goal in the 49ers 2-0 win over Western Carolina.
