Box Score

MILWAUKEE - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team played their hearts out but fell to rival Marquette, 1-0, in double overtime in the Conference USA Tournament semifinals. The loss ends the 49ers' season at 9-7-4.

The lone goal of the match was scored at 113:48, when Marquette's Anne Ioder picked up a short throw-in by teammate Jenny Strachota and dribbled towards the left side of the penalty box. From there, she launched a shot past a diving Jenn Howell (Marietta, Ga./McEachern) for the game-winner.

Howell made eight saves to end the season with 82, a new personal career-high. She made several saves in the second half to keep the 49ers in the match, including back-to-back point blank stops against Kate Gordon and Ashley Spakowitz.

Howell and the 49ers set a new school record with a 0.93 GAA for the season. The previous mark was 0.98 by the 1997 squad. It is the third school record Howell has broken this season, after eclipsing the school's all-time marks for shutouts (14) and saves (234).
