CHICAGO - Charlotte behind Laura Lockwood's two goals defeated DePaul 2-0 on the road in Conference USA women's soccer action.

Charlotte improved to 7-5-1 overall and 4-0-1 in Conference USA. DePaul falls to 3-7-0 overall and 2-3 in Conference USA.

"Certainly, I'm happy to be back on the winning track," said head coach Neil Roberts, who picked up his 50th career victory and 20th as head coach of Charlotte. "I'm really proud to have a clean conference record. Our defense kept a clean net, which we always strive for and I'm enthused about the play of some of our reserves."

Charlotte scored their first goal of the game at the 2:38 mark when Lockwood connected on a scoring shot off a Jill Currie corner kick.

Charlotte scored their second goal of the match when Lockwood scored off assists from Shannon Roberto and Jessica Mays at the 56:58 mark.

Charlotte goalkeeper Jennifer Howell recorded her fourth solo shutout of the season. She had five saves including stopping a DePaul penalty kick with just under three minutes left in the game.

Charlotte faces Conference USA rival Marquette in Milwaukee, Sunday, October 1 at 1 pm.
