HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Charlotte women's soccer blanked Southern Miss, 1-0, for their fifth straight win. Charlotte improved to 5-2-1 on the season and 3-0 in Conference USA.

"We didn't play our best," Charlotte coach Neil Roberts said. "However, we were able to adjust to our surroundings and pull out a solid Conference USA win."

Charlotte junior Jennie Leeder scored the game's lone goal, and her second goal of the season, off assists from Tiffany Ross and Megan Terlip at the 69:10 mark of the match.

The 49ers outshot Southern Miss 19-10 in the match and 13-4 in the first half.

Junior goalkeeper Jenn Howell recorded her 12th career shutout to set a Charlotte career shutout mark passing former Charlotte goalkeeper Jessica Brooks for the record.

Charlotte continues their road trip at Conference USA foe South Florida, Sunday, September 30.
