Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. - Freshman forward Lindsey Underwood scored twice and sophomore Laura Scott added a third goal to push NC State past the Charlotte 49ers 3-0.

The Wolfpack broke a scoreless tie at the 22:16 mark when Scott took a pass from sophomore midfielder Lindsey Rosen and lifted a shot over the outstretched arm of Charlotte goalkeeper Jennifer Howell for the score. Later in the first half, Underwood netted another shot for NC State just before halftime from a seemingly impossible angle near the endline at the 44:45 mark. Underwood added her second goal of the game, again near the endline with a high, floating shot that landed in the back of the goal at the 86:41 mark of the second half for the final margin.

Sophomore goalkeeper Gretchen Lear, who returned to action after missing nine games with a seperated shoulder, made eight saves for the Wolfpack in the win, including several diving stabs of 49er shots. Lear also played despite a bout with the flu which affected her throughout the game.
