CHARLOTTE, N.C. - On Friday, September 22, the Charlotte women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie versus Saint Louis at Transamerica Field on a wet, muddy field. Following a rain delay of one hour, the game kicked off at 6:30 p.m.
The first half saw the 49ers controlling most of the possession, with Saint Louis countering on a few opportunities. At halftime, the shots were four apiece. In the second half, the Billikens outshot the 49ers 6-3, however, neither team could find the back of the net. In the overtime periods, both teams managed three shots combined before the game was decided.
Charlotte's goalkeeper Jennifer Howell picked up her third shutout on the season making seven saves on 12 shots. Jill Hayes and Jill Currie each had two shots to pace the 49ers.
Charlotte's record now stands at 5-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Conference USA. The Billikens post a 6-1-1, 2-0-1 record following tonight's match.
The 49ers will next play on Sunday, September 24 at 2:30 p.m. versus C-USA rival Houston at home.
